An organisation's e-business systems comprise the Internet technologies, office systems and processes that support its e-business activities.

A typical e-business system in a small business would include:

• the computer used to connect to the Internet
• the connection itself (dial-up or broadband)
• a website
• a product or service database providing descriptions and prices
• policies and procedures in place for dealing with security, quality control, email from customers, suppliers and other businesses.
